London

I do not not think I can reiterate sufficiently in writing how much I adore this city. I have been lucky enough to visit London twice in 2012 and once again in 2011. My most recent visit was with family at the start of November. Here is a few pics we took whilst there.

The Christmas decoations in Covent Garden Market had been put up and the whole place was buzzing, We spent ages pottering around enjoying the performers. Below are some pictures I took in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Left is a Marchesa Gown. I always dreamed I would somehow wear a Marchesa wedding gown because I think their use of textures and layering is second to none.  I am not sure if they can do understated though but this gown was really breath taking.
Mary Katrantzou! I love her designs and use of patterns.

Greenwich Market was somewhere I had not been before and it is great for food, accessories and vintage clothes. We thought it would be quieter than the city centre but it too was also extremely busy but a good day out (You will need the full day!)

On Greenwich Main Street with my Zara Tan Tote (which I call suitcase bag), Men's Polo Ralph Lauren Denim Shirt, Bebe faux leather jacket and oversized scarf from H&M (which I call blanket scarf). Bigger is better.

Apollo Ball

I mentioned the Apollo Ball in my previous post and this is what my best friend Ciadhra and I wore to it last year. I can honestly say it is one of my favourite items of clothing that I have ever worn.

Around the time of the Apollo Ball last year Ciadhra and I decided we wanted to look fierce even though we had no money and no dresses a week before the event. In the middle of shopping we decided why not head up to Covet and try on some designer dresses for a laugh.

Covet is a beautiful store in Dublin which is stocked full of designer dresses for hire. I cannot recommend enough hiring dresses for a big event. You get to wear beautiful gowns most of us could never afford and the gown then doesn't gather dust in your wardrobe. Another great hiring site is Girl Meets Dress.

So Ciks and I obviously both fell in love and hired our dresses despite not having the money. She adored this  show stopping Oscar de la Renta gold sequinned number while I went slightly more understated for a Alice Temperley black peplum with turquoise accessories (I got my clutch in Benetton but originally it was a weird looking purse with woven handles, i thought the handles were odd so I pulled them out and made an adorable clutch).

What is funny is that as I was trying on my dress I put it on backwards. The women in the shop laughed at me but then we all realised it actually looked much better back to front. So I wore a designer dress backwards for an entire night. Why not. They also provided the little ornate belt I am wearing that they sew themselves and let you borrow at no extra cost to complete your look.

This is a picture of the back. I did my hair myself by back combing it and scraping it into a side ponytail and then applying a donut bun from Penneys (Primark). We had our make up done in Mac and went on to have a fabulous night. We stumbled back into Covet the next day to return our dresses and they were so relaxed. We didn't even have to clean them ourselves. All I can say is - a great service.

Meet That Red Dress

A  second hand 90's velvet, red, clingy maxi dress I bought on a whim for about €50. Does not look like much on the hanger but is quite striking on. It is fitted, high necked and full length with sleeves as well as a slit up to the knee and cut out on the shoulders. What is so special about This Red Dress. Probably nothing much. And yet it is special for me. This red dress encapsulates my motivation to get up off my backside and accomplish something.

I bought the dress on a great small Irish vintage website called 9 Crow Street when I was feeling a little bit down. As soon as I saw it I knew I would not be able to wear it tomorrow without suffocating myself in seven pairs of spanx and yet I did not care. I thought it was beautiful.

And so I have set myself a goal.  By March 26th I hope to have finally got my blog up and running (by this I mean actually maintaining and committing to blogging), I hope to have developed a healthier attitude towards food and have become capable of jogging for longer than thirty seconds. I want to utilise my time rather than loiter around facebook and watch entire seasons of American T.V shows completely irrelevant to my life (Game of Thrones how are ya). All in all I am trying to commit to a long overdue eradication of laziness and achieve a lifestyle overhaul.

All this is why no one in the world will see me in That Red Dress until March 26th. This is the day of the Apollo Ball, a university ball that I have attended for the past two years and something I look forward to eternally. By that date I hope to slip on That Red Dress feeling healthier and more accomplished than ever. And hopefully this blog will be a motivation in itself.

So there's a goal and the beginning of what I hope to be a personal style blog for anyone who may stumble across it and a lifestyle change for myself.

Oh and this is me. In what I consider to be a hysterical headdress.Hello.
