Sophie's @ The Dean Hotel

In upholding the tradition of celebrating being young, independent women making our way in the world, my favourite gal pals and I found ourselves in the rooftop restaurant of Sophie's on International Women's Day.

Situated above the stylish Dean hotel, Sophie's offers the perfect location for a modern, cosmopolitan brunch with the bonus of added cocktails. Reservations are mandatory and on weekends seem to be offered in two hour slots. This turned out to be plenty of time and there is always the possibility of enjoying some excess drinks out on the open air terrace after the meal.

When we arrived, our table was not ready so we waited at the bar for twenty minutes (they did extend our 'slot' time for a half an hour to make up for the delay.) Despite our time regulations, the lunch did not feel rushed and we had ample time to enjoy our food.

The brunch menu is interesting as it is not really a brunch menu. It is a mix of breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can get anything from a Full Irish breakfast to a bowl of fruit; french toast and bagels to a rotisserie chicken with gravy. The prices are reasonable for the dishes ranging from seven to thirteen euro meanwhile the cocktails all stay fixed at an extravagant eleven euro (though they are delicious.) The food lived up to the lavish surroundings. There was not one negative thing to be said about the food; it was scrumptious and beautifully presented.

The setting is probably what you are paying for. The space is open, bright and well ventilated which I appreciated having found ourselves there on an unseasonably warm day. The large windows offer decent views of the city in a modern, stylish setting. The restaurant manager was visible and gave us a pleasant sending off. I always appreciate when someone is thankful for your visit.

Despite a few glitches with the order, the service was relatively smooth and I would recommend the hotel as a fun outing for lunch or dinner. Overall, it was the perfect place to celebrate Women's Day with all my favourite women (our destinations are getting more lavish each year!).
